Did you know that in 2023, the Tesla Model Y and the Tesla Model 3 were the two best-selling electric cars in Canada (Model Y: 29,582 units; Model 3: 29,122 units)? When it comes to electric vehicles, there's no denying that Tesla has made a name for itself in Quebec. However, not everyone who wants to drive an electric car wants to do so with the American brand. With this in mind, Volvo has...

Planning to buy a Volvo in 2026 but don't know what the range will look like by then?
With electrification on the rise and automotive trends changing, Volvo is adapting its offering to meet drivers' new expectations.
In this article, we take a look at the new Volvo 2026 models for sale and the models that will remain in the catalogue.
Change in electrification strategy
Just when everyone thought the Swedish brand was heading towards the complete electrification of its range, Volvo decided at the end of 2024 to adjust its strategy.
It is now aiming for between 90% and 100% of its sales to be electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids by that date.
This change is attributed to a number of factors, including the slower-than-expected roll-out of recharging infrastructure, the reduction (or even total abolition) of government incentives in some markets, and uncertainties linked to recent customs duties on electric vehicles in various regions.
It is also undeniable that vehicles with heavy or light hybrids represent the best of both worlds for city use or longer journeys.
That's why the Volvo 2026 range offers the best of both worlds to meet your needs.
The Volvo range in 2026: between electrification and hybridisation
In 2026, Volvo will continue to evolve with a more diversified range of vehicles, including electric and hybrid models to meet the varied expectations of drivers.
Volvo XC60 2026 update - Link to do with other article
For 2026, the Volvo XC60 has undergone some subtle but significant changes.
Inspired by the XC90, its exterior design has been updated with a new air intake, new wheels and darkened rear lights.
Three new colours will also be introduced: Forest Lake, Aurora Silver and Mulberry Red.
Inside, there's a floating 11.2-inch central screen that enhances the user experience, while benefiting from smoother interaction thanks to the power of the Snapdragon Cockpit.
New premium materials, optimised storage space and an enhanced Bowers & Wilkins audio system add to its comfort.
Update Volvo XC90 2025.5
Quant au Volvo XC90 2025.5, celui-ci évolue en douceur avec un dessin extérieur modernisé.
It has slimmer headlamps, a redesigned front grille and darkened rear lights. New 20" and 22" wheels and a Mulberry Red colour have also been added to the range. Inside, a horizontal dashboard incorporates recycled materials and an 11.2-inch touchscreen with integrated Google.
On the technical side, the XC90 retains its B6 (295 bhp) and T8 plug-in hybrid (455 bhp, 53 km electric) engines, while improving soundproofing and comfort thanks to adaptive dampers and new insulation.
Introduction of the Volvo EX30 Cross Country
Presented as a concept alongside the Volvo EX30 in 2024, the Cross Country version was expected to arrive soon to complement the existing range (V60 and V90 Cross Country).
In mid-February, Volvo presented the Volvo EX30 Cross Country, which takes the base of the standard version but adds a few ingredients to make it more robust.
"We launched our first Cross Country car more than 25 years ago, and the concept of durable, all-weather cars is part of the Volvo brand DNA.
For example, the car has been raised and fitted with special wheels (plus an option of 18-inch all-terrain tyres) to make it easier to get around difficult terrain, such as Montreal's potholes.
Finally, the Volvo EX30 Cross Country is fully electric, with a range of up to 427 kilometres. Recharging time is just 26 minutes, from 10% to 80%.
Volvo vehicles still on the road in 2026
In 2026, Volvo will retain several models in its catalogue. The V60 and V90 Cross Country will remain on the programme, as will the electric versions of the XC40 and C40, now called the EX40 and EC40. The Volvo EX90 will also continue to be offered.
These models may benefit from a few adjustments, particularly in terms of design, options or on-board technology, but their overall concept will not change.
In any case, we'll be publishing a dedicated article to keep you informed of any updates to these vehicles between now and 2026.
Volvo vehicles disappearing from the catalogue in 2026
The Volvo V60 and V60 Polestar Engineered will no longer be in the catalogue in 2026. These models have been withdrawn from 2025, mainly due to insufficient sales on the North American market.
Despite their qualities, they were not as successful as expected in the face of growing demand for SUVs and electric models. Volvo has therefore decided to refocus its offer on vehicles that are better suited to consumer expectations.
For fans of these models, only used versions will remain available. In this regard, it is already possible to see our online certified Volvo stock by clicking here.
6 new products expected beyond 2026
Despite adjustments to its electrification strategy, Volvo is maintaining its commitment to electric vehicles by announcing the launch of six new models between now and the end of 2026.
These include the Volvo EX60, an electric SUV and cousin of the Volvo XC60 2026, alongside other models to be announced shortly.
We'll come back to this in more detail when Volvo shares information about these vehicles.
