It's been a decade since the Volvo XC90 appeared on Quebec roads in its current form. Along the way, it has evolved with new technologies and a slight restyling that has kept it in step with the times. However, with Volvo's electrification targets revised downwards, the Volvo XC90 needed a new design to remain relevant in the range alongside the Volvo EX90. In this article, discover the new...
The Volvo V60 Recharge is a plug-in hybrid wagon that forms part of Volvo's range of electrified vehicles.
Launched in 2019, the V60 Recharge is a highly sought-after model on Canadian territory, as it combines the best of all worlds between cargo volume, style, low fuel consumption and power.
So if you're looking for a wagon that makes no compromises, the Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid is an excellent choice.
In this article, you'll find out more about the car's features and what's new for the 2024 model year.
History of the Volvo V60
Before offering a wide choice of SUVs, Volvo built wagons for drivers looking for safety, reliability, space and sturdiness. As a result, the Volvo 940, 850 and V70 are vehicles that have left their mark on Volvo's history.
So to continue the wagon heritage, the Swedish brand has introduced the first-generation Volvo V60, replacing the V70, with a sleeker design and more cargo space.
But the real evolution comes with the second generation Volvo V60 in 2018. Developed on Volvo's SPA platform, the Swedish brand now offers an elegant wagon with more economical 4-cylinder petrol engines and, above all, a plug-in hybrid version.
This latest model, available from the 2022 model year, meets a strong demand for plug-in hybrid station wagons in Quebec.
So, if you're interested in the 2024 model year, here's what you can expect.
The rechargeable hybrid powertrain chosen
Let's start with the motorization.
For the 2024 model year, the Volvo V60 Recharge benefits from a T8 engine that combines a 312 hp combustion engine with a 143 hp electric motor. When the two engines are added together, the driver can exploit no less than 455 hp and 523 lb.ft.
All this power is, of course, coupled with 4-wheel drive to ensure the vehicle's traction and safety.
As for range, you'll be able to drive 64 kilometers on a full recharge cycle.
Polestar style inside and out
Who said driving a plug-in hybrid should be done without style?
When you buy a Volvo V60 Recharge, you benefit from the styling elements of the Polestar range.
1. 19" forged alloy wheels with Brembo brakes
2. Comfortable wrap-around seats and exclusive gold Polestar belts
3. Exterior trim that emphasizes sportiness
Polestar-optimized chassis for the ultimate driving experience
Whether it's a combustion or hybrid engine, the driving experience is important to the Swedish brand. That's why the Volvo V60 Recharge benefits from an Öhlins Polestar Engineered chassis to deliver the perfect balance of agility, control and comfort.
And thanks to Öhlins shock absorbers interacting with Polestar Engineered front and rear springs, you benefit from roadholding that reduces roll when cornering, increasing the vehicle's grip.
Cargo capacity
The vehicle's design remains unchanged, and trunk volume should be the same as that of the 2023 V60 Recharge, at 471 liters.
What colors are available?
For 2024, the V60 Plug-in Hybrid will be available in 4 familiar colors from the Volvo catalog.
- Crystal White
- Onyx Black
- Thunder Grey
- Silver Dawn
Announced price for Quebec
At the time of writing, Volvo has announced an MSRP of $77,500. To this must be added transportation costs as well as preparation and shipping fees ($2620).
Do government rebates apply?
Since 2012, the government has offered a rebate for the purchase of a new hybrid or electric vehicle.
However, as the MSRP of the Volvo V60 Recharge is over $65,000, this vehicle will not be eligible for the same $10,000 rebate as the 2023 version.
